YSRCP Leaders Demand Cancelling the Rigged Elections in Kanaganapalle

YSRCP official spokesperson Vasireddy Padma - Sakshi Post

Anantapur: Several YSRCP leaders have strongly condemned the strong arm tactics of the ruling TDP leaders at the Kanaganapalle MPP by-election on Wednesday when YSRCP members were threatened and even assaulted by henchmen of TDP minister Paritala Sunita, with the local police and RDO being complicit to the crime.

Without the election having taken place the RDO declared it to have been completed, said T Prakash Reddy a YSRCP leader from Rappadu constituency. Even after YSRCP had made representations to the police authorities and the Election Commission to take extra precautions as they suspected Paritala Sunita’s group to create trouble, there was no point to it as even the Sub Inspector was complicit in threatening the YSRCP members, he added.

YSRCP has demanded that the Kanaganapalle MPP by-election be cancelled.

Meanwhile YSRCP official spokesperson Vasireddy Padma severely criticized the heavy handedness of the Chandrababu Naidu government which, she alleged, has murdered democracy once again. Power hungry TDP ministers and MLAs are becoming habituated to this kind of behavior, she warned.

On Tuesday YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy submitted a letter to Andhra Pradesh DGP Sambasiva Rao requesting him to ensure a level playing field in the ensuing MPP elections of Kanaganapalli in Anantapur district.

Expressing apprehensions that the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) might resort to rigging and atrocities during the poll process, the YSRCP chief asked the DGP to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls. Senior YSRCP leaders also met the state election commissioner regarding the MPP elections and handed over a copy of the letter from YS Jagan that urged the commissioner to ensure impartial elections in Kanaganapalli.

Even as the YSRCP apprehensions about the Kanuganapalle MPP by-election proved to be true, the state machinery nevertheless failed to not only protect democracy but seemed to be hand in glove with the corrupt government.
