YS Jagan To Fight For Lifting Of GST On Handlooms

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday assured the weaver community that he would fight for them and ensure that the 10 per cent GST imposed on finished clothes is waived.

YS Jagan, who is currently touring YSR Kadapa district, said that it was wrong on the part of the Government to impose 5 per cent on cotton and 10 per cent on finished goods. He said this will badly affect the already hit handloom sector.

He said he would write a letter to the Centre and said that Chandrababu Naidu was not even concerned about the plight of the weavers. He said AP's finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is a member of GST council but did not bother to raise the issue of handloom weavers.
