YSRCP president Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tributes to martyrs who were killed during the Basheerbagh agitation held in protest against the reforms in the power sector.

Some party MLAs and other senior leaders of the party also paid tributes to the martyrs on the occasion.

Three persons were killed in the police firing that took place about 14 years ago. And the left leaders like Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, K.Narayana, Gade Diwakar and others were seriously injured in the incident. The related cases are still pending the court.

Speaking on the occasion, YS Jagan said that the spirit of the martyrs is an ideal for them.

“It is very pathetic that the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu ordered police firing on the farmers, opposition leaders and others who were protesting against the power related issues in the state,” said the leader of opposition.

After that, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy permitted to build a memorial for the martyrs at the area where the incident took place. He also extended financial help for the family members of the martyrs.
