Howrah: A cancer patient, who has been undergoing chemotherapy, was thrashed severely by some youths by samshing soft drink bottles on his head after his bike accidentally brushed past the attackers. The incident occurred in Howrah of West Bengal on sunday night.

According to police, Sheik Miraz, (35), who was suffering from cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy, was returning home from his daily business work in Kolkata’s Ripon Street on Sunday night. Front tyre of his bike accidentally touched one of the youths from the locality while he was parking his bike. Though Miraz profusely apologies several times for the accidental mistake, the youths, brutally attacked him.

When Miraz pleaded them to leave him as he was suffering from cancer and was undergoing chemotheraphy, then, enraged, the youths pounced on him and banged his head with bottles with warned Miraz, who was helplessly lying down, to leave the place immediately as the disease can affect others in the locality.

The severely injured Miraz was later shifted to hospital where the doctors said there were several blood clots in his head. After Miraz’s family complained, police arrested the prime accused Ramesh Giri ans are searching for a fugitive who was included in the complaint.
