West Des Moines: Four Telugu people belonging to the same family were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their residence at West Des Moines in Iowa on Saturday. According to the police, gunshot wounds were found on the bodies of the deceased.

City Police Sergeant Dan Wade said, "A phone call was received at 10 am (according to local time) Saturday morning about a problem at a house on 65th Street between Ashworth Road and Aspen Drive. When our units reached the residence, we found four dead bodies in the bloodstream with bullet wounds. The deceased have been identified as Chandrashekhar Sunkara (44), Lavanya Sunkara (41) and two boys aged 15 and 10. It is not yet clear how the incident took place. One of their relatives, who came home, ran outside for help and found a passerby in the neighbourhood, who alerted the police.”

According to real estate records, Lavanya-Chandrasekhar bought the house on March 25, 2019. The police stated that the cause of death will be officially determined after the postmortem. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. A police spokesman said that there does not appear to be a threat to others in the community and that the public should not worry.

Some locals claimed that Chandrashekhar had shot three family members and then shot himself. They revealed that he had been suffering from mental illness for some time now. However, the police are yet to confirm the same.
