A chopper crashed on a highway in Buyukcekmece district, just outside the Turkish city of Istanbul on Friday, after hitting a television tower. The mishap is believed to have occurred due to dense fog. At least five people, four of them Russian businessmen, were killed.
The helicopter belonging to the Eczacibasi group of companies and there were seven people on board: Four of them were Russians. Tragically, the plane hit the tower soon after taking off. The highway has since been closed as the chopper broke into pieces and fire billowed out of them. Video footage from the site showed thick black smoke rising from the highway.
