Why Balayya’s Legend Scored Over Bunny’s Race Gurram at Nandi?

Allu Arjun, Balakrishna - Sakshi Post

Nandamuri Balakrishna's Legend was released on 16 March 2014. In the same year, Allu Arjun's Race Gurram hit theatres on April 11. Both the movies released in the same year with a gap of less than a month but performed well at the box office.

After Andhra Pradesh announced Nandi Awards, Allu Arjun fans expressed their disappointment over Bunny being denied a Nandi Award for Race Gurram. So, to find out the reason we did a little bit of digging and came up with the following analysis.

In terms of collections at the box office, Balakrishna's Legend raked in Rs 60 cr and the movie also had a successful run of 200 days in theatres. Legend also completed 365 days run in two Kurnool theatres with direct four shows while completing 1000 days in Proddutur.

Allu Arjun's Race Gurram managed to collect Rs 59.4 Cr at worldwide box office. This movie too successfully completed 100 days in some areas.

Legend Cast: the Balayya movie had a huge star cast of Jagapathi Babu, Radhika Apte and Sonal Chauhan. The major highlight of the movie was Jagapathi's role because for the first time he was seen as an antagonist in a movie.

Race Gurram Cast: Shruti Haasan, Prakash Raj, Ravi Kishan and Saloni played the key roles. Prakash Raj, who till then played baddie in mosy movies was seen in a comic role. Now, we wonder if he would have been better off playing a villain in the film?

In any case, our understanding of the problem is simple-the committee must have compared the box office collections, star cast and the response the film received in terms of the number of days it completed in theatres too. On those counts, Balayya's Legend clearly takes the lead. We all know what a laugh riot Race Gurram was the dialogues are our all time favorites too.

But you know at times we have no control over certain things. And awards are no parameters to measure an artiste's success. That Allu Arjun is a versatile actor who can pull off both mass and class roles with equal ease is a known fact. So take it easy guys!
