'Vishwaroopam' shows on in Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Telugu version of Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Vishwaroopam' is being screened in Hyderabad city today after the screenings were suspended yesterday on police's order.

The film released all over Andhra Pradesh yesterday, but not in most theatres in the state capital.
Sabita Indra Reddy, state Home Minister, had said yesterday that police commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad had sought to stop screenings until they were satisfied that the film would not create any disturbances.

Police sources said they wanted the movie not to be screened yesterday as it would have coincided with the Muslim festival day of Milad-un-Nabi. A delegation of Muslim leaders had earlier sought a ban on the film.

The film's release has been stopped in Tamil Nadu for two weeks.

Prasad's Imax, one of the large multiplexes in the city, said today's shows were on.

A P Film Chamber of Commerce president Tammareddy Bharadwaja reportedly said the film was screened in some theatres in the city even yesterday, but not in the communally-sensitive areas.

He also said it was unfair to suspend the screenings once the film had been cleared by the Censor Board.

City police Commissioner Anurag Sharma was not available for comment.
