Serena Williams was in for a shock as she was denied her 24th grand SLA. Singles title which would have been a record. Romanian Tennis player Simona Halep won her maiden Wimbledon women's title with 6-2, 6-2 in two straight sets.

After winning her first title Halep said it was a dream come true for her as her parents had always dreamt of her bagging the prestigious title. Halep also thanked Serena for the inspiration while saying that she was glad she had won the Wimbledon 2019 ladies single title as she would now get a membership of the club for life. She also expresses happiness at being able to play in front of the Royal box.
