HYDERABAD: TSRTC JAC leaders along with RTC employees are conducting ''Sakalajanula Samarabheri '' a public meeting in protest against the TRS Government's apathy towards the striking employees. The protest is being held in Saroor Nagar grounds today, (October 30) afternoon from 2 PM to 5 PM.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike which entered the 26th day has set a record of sorts and can be termed as the longest strike after the 2011 "Sakala Janula Samme" in Andhra Pradesh.
So far, 26 people are said to have committed suicide demanding the merger of TSRTC with the state government.
The strike has been escalating by the day, and all opposition party leaders have been extending their support to TSRTC JAC employee unions, raising their voice against state government's decision of sacking 48,000 agitating employees. They have been carrying out protests across the state and they even extended their support for Sakalajanula Samarabheri public meeting.
The RTC JAC leaders requested all the employees to attend the meeting for making it a huge success and to show their strength against what they termed as the dictatorial behaviour of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's government.
Initially, Telangana state police denied permission for the meeting, but with the intervention of the High Court, the RTC employees will be holding public meeting. However, the Court has granted conditional permission to the RTC JAC for the meeting.
