Shabana underwent abortion five times. After that, Shabana alleged that there was a change in Rafiq and his family members' treatment towards her. She said that they started harassing her often for dowry. Shabana left her in-laws house and started living with her mother in Mallikarjunanagar, Hyderabad.

Shabana conceived for the sixth time but there was no change in Rafik. She said that he even tortured her for extra dowry. Shabana who was fed up with Rafik's harassment went to Malkajgiri police station and filed a police complaint with the police last July. The police called Rafik and counseled him.

However, as Rafik didn't stop harassing her, the victim filed a complaint with police on Tuesday demanding action against Rafiq and his family members. Police said that the case was registered and investigated. Shabana said that she had changed her religion for him, and he started harassing her even after filing a police complaint against him. Shabana also alleged that Rafik had kicked her in the stomach with no regard for the fact that she was pregnant. She further said that his family members were also threatening her to get Rafik married with another girl of their choice. Shabana demanded that the police take strict action against Rafik and his family members.
