Chandanagar: A man killed his sister over gold jewellery. The incident took place under Chandanagar police limits. According to Chandanagar Inspector Ravinder, R Ramana Rao (36), a native of Serilingampally was working as a lorry driver. R Seethalakshmi (42) of the same village was living alone since her divorce from her husband.
Seethalakshmi uncle's son Ramana Rao was addicted to alcohol and they both would consume alcohol daily. For this, Ramana Rao asked her for gold jewellery. On 4 August Ramana Rao, who was in a state of inebriation, killed her by hanging her in an intoxicated state and informed his neighbours as her having committed suicide by hanging herself. Sivakumar, brother of Seethalakshmi expressed doubt over her death and informed the local police.
The local police reached the spot and filed a case as suspicious murder and started investigating. The post-mortem report revealed that Seethalakshmi had been murdered by tying her throat with a saree. The police have taken Ramana Rao into custody and recovered gold jewellery from him.
