Hyderabad: To escape from the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition Of Sex Selection) Act (PCPNDT), doctors are now using the photos of Gods and Goddesses to communicate the foetus of the baby.
According to a leading daily, photos of Sai Baba, Lord Balaji and Goddess Kanaka Durga are used in the scanning rooms, according to a leading daily.
It must be noted that the central advisory board data on the implementation of the Act shows that only two such cases have been registered by the police.
The photos of Sai Baba, Lord Balaji or Lord Ganapati are used to communicate if the foetus is male and Kanaka Durga is used if it is female. In some places, flowers will also be kept in the scanning room to point out that the foetus is a female. As women wear flowers it is understood that the foetus is female, the daily pointed out.
Also, it is learnt that professionals charge between Rs 10,000-Rs 30,000 for each test and also the rate changes depending on the area.
