Hyderabad: A couple on Tuesday was arrested on the charges of drug peddling in Hyderabad. As per the details, the couple, Shaik Fahad (37)and his wife, Salima Rabbiul Shaik (27), are residents of Brindavan Colony in Towlichowki.

The couple were caught by the Excise Department when they were trying to allegedly sell cocaine near Saibaba Temple in Banjara Hills. The Enforcement team seized nine grams of cocaine seized from their possession.

In addition to that, Rs 3 lakh cash towards sale proceeds of cocaine, a Maruti Swift car used for the transportation of the narcotic drug, one swiping machine and four mobiles phones were also seized from the accused. It is learned that Shaik Fahad is the main supplier of cocaine and managed to flee in his car but the officials nabbed him along with his wife on Tuesday. Running the drug peddling for nine years, Fahad used to purchase drugs from a Nigerian national at Rs 6,000 per gram and started selling it at Rs 7,500 per gram. Also, it is reported that his wife worked alongside him in the business. Apart from cocaine, he also took orders for different drugs including opium and MDMA. The orders took place over mobile phones through voice calls and WhatsApp calls/chats.

On June 2, two drug peddlers, identified as B Santosh and Mohammed Masood, were arrested by the enforcement officials for supplying cocaine and opium in Film Nagar under Jubilee Hills Police station limits. Seven grams cocaine, two grams opium and Rs. 1.13 lakh cash, three motorcycles used for the transportation of cocaine was seized from the duo. However, Shaik Fahad managed to flee from the spot.

In connection to this case, several drug consumers have been identified and charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
