Hyderabad: An assault case was registered against the staff of Amnesia Lounge Bar in Jubilee Hills after an altercation broke out late on Sunday night.
Three bouncers were arrested by the Hyderabad police on Monday after they attacked nine youngsters who were celebrating the birthday of a friend during the India-Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup match.
The youngsters, Karthik, Chandrakiran, Naveen, Sarath Chandra and five others were celebrating a birthday party in a pub on Jubilee Hills Road number 36. However, a fight ensued between the youngsters and a bouncer around 12.30 am on Sunday night over the use of tissue papers in the outlet's washroom and they were asked to leave the premises. The argument escalated to a point where the bouncers allegedly attacked the group with iron rods for spoiling tissue papers in the washroom.
A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. The bouncers can be seen manhandling the youngsters in the video and pushing them out onto the road, before heading back into the pub.
Based on the complaint filed by Karthik, the police took the bouncers into custody.
According to the complainant, the bouncers entered the washroom and asked them to leave the pub as they were using too many tissues. The bouncers, on the other hand, alleged that the group had broken a mirror.
Speaking to the media, Karthik was quoted saying, "When we confronted the bouncers, they started beating us. We asked them to apologize and refused to pay the bill until they apologized. One of the bouncers hit me with a rod due to which I sustained a head injury. He also injured one of my friends who came to rescue me."
The police have registered a case under Section 324 of the IPC (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) against the bouncers. The management of Amnesia is claiming that the incident took place when the group of youngsters misbehaved with some women in an inebriated condition while celebrating India’s win in the ICC World Cup match against Pakistan on Sunday night. In turn, they have also filed a counter-complaint against the youngsters.
Police are looking through the CCTV footage to determine the details of the incident. Further investigation is underway.
