Hyderabad: A 22-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his father's pistol at his house in the city.

The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday in Neredmet of Malkajgiri area. The student, Sahil shot himself with the licensed weapon of his father, Meherdin who is a retired army Jawan and is now working as a security guard with a private bank.

Results for the entrance examination were declared on Monday night and with Sahil not qualifying, his father reportedly admonished him in this regard. On Monday night, the student shot himself on his forehead with the pistol around 1 am. Hearing the shots, the family members rushed to his room and found him lying in a pool of blood on the bed. He succumbed to death immediately.

The police on receiving the information reached the spot and examined it. They didn't find any suicide note in his room. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which deals with suicide. Further investigation is underway.
