Hyderabad: Post the Telangana Intermediate examination results goof-up, which is rather a mild phrase to be used, due to which over 18 students committed suicide when they found that they had failed, the radar has now turned to the role of Globearena Technologies Pvt Ltd. The company was entrusted to provide technical assistance to the Board of Intermediate Education, but due to the irregularities in the way the results were published has brought the company into the forefront for its role in this whole episode.

Globearena technologies is an 18-year-old company which is mostly into E-learning solutions, and as per the company website, has a list of companies including the JNTU , NASCOM and other educational institutions in its client list. The company is run by VSN Raju an entrepreneur who has collaborated with several universities, educational institutions, and government educational departments to deliver turnkey solutions.

In report published in the The Hindu in 2015, a three -member committee was appointed to probe an alleged scam in JNTU-Kakinada. The former Vice-Chancellor G Tulasi Ramdas, Registrar Prasada Raju and Director of Evaluation Saibabu and others were involved in this Rs 120 Crore scam.

The committee was formed after CPI State Secretary P Naryana had submitted a memorandum on the alleged scam mentioning that a private firm- Globerena Technologies, a company floated by the former Vice-Chancellor’s brother, was involved in it. The committee also summoned VSN Raju and his associates for questioning. In 2017 a cheating case was filed in Sarpvaram Police station in Kakinada by the JNTU Kakinada Registrar against Globearena. The company had filed for a Content Tender with JNTU Kakinada for an amount of RS 36 Crore and had cheated JNTU to a sum of RS 26 Crore. Cases are still pending on Globearena.

In due course, they also got the tender for extending support to the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education through DPRP project for gathering student information, analysing, computerisation of examination results, and other works. Even though the company did not have the necessary capabilities or the eligibility to conduct such activities in such a large scale, they were given the contract. It is alleged that due to the lack of proper coordination with the BIE with regards to the students information had led to this chaos in the final results published.
