IIT Hyderabad Student Jumps To Death From Hostel Roof

Sangareddy: An IIT-Hyderabad student, committed suicide by jumping off the hostel building situated at Kandi near here. The student was identified as M. Anirudhya, who was pursuing mechanical and aerospace engineering at IIT-H. It is learnt that around 12.45 am on Friday morning, the student got to the terrace of the D block of the hostel.

Sangareddy police have registered a case and are probing the matter. At first, it was believed that it was a case of accidental fall resulting in the student's death, based on the information provided by the security team of IIT-H. Later, however, friends of the deceased student are said to have informed Sangareddy (Rural) police that they had received an email suggesting that the student could have taken his life. Based on verification of CCTV footage, police surmised that it appeared to be a case of suicide. Further details are awaited.
