Hyderabad: Congress leader in the Assembly Mallu Bhattim Vikramarka alleged that the decision to demolish the existing Secretariat buildings and to build new ones was only to serve the inflated ego of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Led by Vikramarka, Congress leaders including Revanth Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Seethakka and others inspected the Secretariat buildings on Monday. They walked through the entire stretch and visited different blocks.
Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Vikramarka said the existing buildings in Secretariat were in very much workable condition with a remaining life span of another two to three decades. He pointed out that various blocks in the Secretariat were built only in last 10 to 30 years, and there was no need to pull them down squandering the public money.
The Congress leader said the pressing issues of State were construction of double bedroom houses for poor and to resolve the crisis that had afflicted the youth and farming community, but certainly not a new flashy Secretariat.
