Hyderabad: Likening the recent Lok Sabha results to TRS party to a “speed breaker” in its winning streak.its working president K T Rama Rao made light of Congress candidate Revanth Reddy’s victory in Malkajgiri constituency. The Lok Sabha segment was the cynosure of all eyes as it saw the high-pitched battle and TRS left no stone unturned to defeat Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s bête noir Revanth Reddy.
In an informal interaction with press persons at the TRS headquarters on Tuesday, KTR said, “Congress party won Malkajgiri constituency by a whisker. Revanth Reddy’s victory is hardly any victory.” TRS candidate Rajashekar Reddy lost to Revanth Reddy by a margin of 10,204 votes.
KTR said TRS had nevertheless performed well despite the Modi wave sweeping across the country. “We will sit down and evaluate if there is any delay in our delivery mechanism and inefficiency in our administration due to back to back elections,” he said.
The TRS leader said there was a “peculiar” trend in the recent Lok Sabha elections that went by. He said the victory of BJP candidate in Adilabad surprised the party.
On losing Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat to BJP, where his own Assembly segment Siricilla falls, he wondered how the BJP could secure a win as the party had no cadre locally. He urged TRS party workers not to be disheartened by the results, and maintained that he had not failed as party’s working president.
