Khammam: In what could be the end of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana, its MLA from Aswaraopeta, Mecha Nageswara Rao met senior TRS leader and former minister Thummala Nageswara Rao here on Tuesday. In the context of rumours around the TDP MLA's move to the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS), the meeting gains prominence even as TRS MLAs await cabinet expansion.
In the recent Assembly polls, Mecha Nageswara Rao and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah won from the TDP. However, speculation is rife that the two would join the ruling party before the MLAs' oath taking on 17 January.
While Sandra responded positively to the rumour, Mecha Nageswara Rao released a video on social media saying the news of his joining the TRS was not true. Nevertheless, with Thummala's meeting the Aswaraopeta MLA, political analysts say that the double move is all but certain. It is learnt that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) gave the responsibility to scoop out the TDP MLAs to his close associates.
