Clash Of The Titans: Sabitha Indra Reddy, Teegala Krishna Reddy Test Strength In Maheshwaram

Sabitha Indra Reddy, Teegala Krishna Reddy- Maheswaram Constituency - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad/Maheshwaram: Maheshwaram assembly constituency is among the 14 constituencies in Ranga Reddy district and a part of the Chevella Lok Sabha seat. Maheshwaram was formed as a separate constituency in 2008 under the delimitation Act of 2002. Its geographical closeness to Hyderabad and the IT sector , makes Maheshwaram what it has become today-the epicenter of commercial and real estate activity.

In the past the seat was once won by the Congress and the TDP in two elections. In 2009 former Home Minister, Sabitha Indra Reddy won from here, while in 2014, she was unseated by the incumbent candidate Teegala Krishna Reddy, who won on a TDP ticket and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi later.

While Teegala Krishna Krishna Reddy defeated Malreddy Ranga Reddy of the Congress in 2014 with a majority of over 30,000 votes, this time around it's a face-off between him and Sabitha Indra Reddy of the Congress.

Maheshwaram has a large voter base of close to 3,25,000. The way things stand, the balance seems to tip in favour of the TRS. December 11 could be Teegala Krishna Reddy's day. Sabitha Indra Reddy had represented this constituency from 2009-14, but the political landscape has since changed vastly.
