Hyderabad: Old habits die hard, as was the case with Nagam Janardhan Reddy here today. After having criticised his own party, the freshly-minted Congress leader quickly recovered from his lapse. This happened at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here today. Nagam Janardhan Reddy started his talk with sole aim to criticise the TRS government, but as he was speaking due to a slip of tongue he said, "The corruption of Congress has been the obstacle for the state's development." He realised that he was speaking against his own party and immediately corrected himself and said, "Sorry... Sorry.. The corruption of TRS has been the obstacle for state's development."
Speaking harshly against the TRS leaders he said, "Irrigation minister Harish Rao is a useless fellow." He warned that he will bring to light the corrupt activities of KCR and Harish Rao. The TRS government was performing Bombay tamasha in the name of Kaleshwaram project, he said and reminded the press that the motors used in the project were bought during the Congress rule. He asked why the details were not revealed even after filing RTI petition.
Nagam questioned the ruling party on the progress in double bedroom houses construction as well as distribution of three acres of land. He challenged the TRS to win 100 seats in next elections. "If I am devoid of security I am not afraid, people are my security. They will take care of me," he observed. He pointed out that he was questioning as per constitutional provisions and was not going overboard.
The Congress leader asked why SLBC tunnel was not being completed. The redesign and re-estimation of costs of projects were being done only to loot public money, he said. During the press conference Nagam praised the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy and said he had introduced 108, Arogya Sri and fee reimbursement schemes. The welfare schemes of Dr YSR were helpful to people, he added.
