Prakasam District: The Chandrababu Naidu government does not provide minimum support price for any crop as evident from the plight of farmers in the district, Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

Interacting with people on the 90th day of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, in Valetivaripalem in Kandukuru constituency, he said tobacco farmers suffered the most as the TDP government promised to rescue them but did not provide support price for their produce. Speaking to YS Jagan, the farmers said that the price given to tobacco crop is the same for 10 years. Similarly, for grams and millets the price is less than half of that given last year, they told the YSRCP president. Moved by the plight of the farmers, YS Jagan called for wide publicity to the failures of the TDP government in helping the ryots. "It is not just the farmers, but every section of the society was deceived by the chief minister including DWCRA women, youth, students and government employees," YS Jagan said.

A few tobacco farmers told YS Jagan that the government discontinued pension for them without any explanation, while others stated that they did not receive any loan waiver as claimed by the TDP government.

At Polinenivaripalem, women told the YSRCP president about the plight of women and children in the TDP regime. After a patient hearing, he told them that as soon as the YSRCP government takes charge, every mother who sends her children to school will be given Rs 15,000 to ensure that the students do not discontinue their studies. Similarly, loans of DWCRA women will be repaid by the YSRCP government in four installments, he assured the women on the occasion. Meanwhile, a delegation of advocates from Eluru in West Godavari met YS Jagan on Saturday and expressed their solidarity with the ongoing padayatra.
