Restrictions On Media At AP Assembly Decried

Alla Ramakrishna Reddy - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: The YSR Congress Party on Saturday found fault with the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao's decision to restrict the entry of media personnel who were reporting on the roof leakage issue at opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's chambers.

Speaking to the media, YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said the Speaker tried to divert the attention from the core issue of poor construction quality of the Assembly building. "That is the reason he raised the issue of sabotage and showed the broken pipelines in the Assembly premises and in particular at YS Jagan's chambers. The real issue is the sub-standard construction of the building and not a case of sabotage.

Therefore a CID inquiry into the broken water pipelines is a diversion whereas the need is for a CBI inquiry into the crores wasted in land acquisition and construction," Ramakrishna Reddy said.

"I have visited YS Jagan's chambers immediately after the rains and was shocked to notice the broken ceiling and water-filled area. While YSRCP MLAs were allowed to inspect the rain-soaked premises, the entry of media personnel was restricted. The truth about the poor standard of construction would have been out by now if only the media was allowed to the chambers of the CM, the Speaker and the state ministers," the MLA added.
