Purandheswari fails to get promotion - Sakshi Post

Daggubati Purandheswari, who was expected to get an elevation to the Cabinet rank or at least a Minister of State (MoS) with independent charge, could not make it to the position.

Though she is shifted from the Human Resources Development portfolio to Commerce and Industry, she was, however, denied the promotion.

The reasons for the decision not to elevate her were not immediately known but sources in the Congress in Hyderabad said that party president Sonia Gandhi was not favourably inclined to give an elevation to Purandheswari.
Given the opposition she is facing within the State unit of the Congress and also in Visakhapatnam, the Lok Sabha constituency that she is representing, the party High Command thought it fit to continue her in the MoS rank. Purandheswari is facing stiff resistance from party senior leader T Subbirami Reddy, who unsuccessfully contested from Nellore in the recently concluded bypolls.
