Khammam district Congress party president Vanama Venkateswara Rao on Tuesday quit party to join YSRCP.

Venkateswara Rao was formally inducted into YSRCP in the presence of party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party office in Lotus Pond.

Jagan  welcomed the former Congress leader by presenting him with a “kanduva” at the party office.

Speaking to reports after joining the party, the Khammam leader said that YS Jagan is the only leader capable of taking the state forward, like his father Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He added that the state needs the Yuvaneta's leadership.

He added that Congress betrayed him after he put in 40 years of hard work. He also accused Congress of doing injustice to the backward classes.
