Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is going to take a final call on the extension of lockdown in the national capital on Sunday. While the lockdown in Delhi scheduled to end on Monday, May 17, sources say that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi might extend the lockdown till May 24 as the positivity rate of the COVID-19 infections in the city has dipped to 11 percent now.

Earlier CM Kejriwal has extended the lockdown thrice to bring the situation under control and to boost up the health system that was about to collapse. The state government has imposed strict guidelines like suspension of Metro trains and prohibition of wedding ceremonies at public venues.

Meanwhile, the National Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) on Friday requested and wrote a letter to Kejriwal to lift the complete lockdown in the state. And asked to open markets in a phased manner with strict enforcement of laws. “Lockdown is not a permanent solution, and the Delhi government should now think of opening markets in a phased manner with strict enforcement of laws,” National Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) president Atul Bhargava wrote in a letter to Kejriwal.
