See How Netizens Are Reacting After LAWDA Trends On Twitter

 - Sakshi Post

The cleanliness drive of Dal Lake has been taken up by Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) again. Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority has started a mission to clean Dal Lake but it was stopped last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The High Court directed the LAWDA to submit a project report on Dal Lake.

The main aim of this project is to clear weeds like lily pads, creepers, and other waste material present in the lake that create a disturbance for the movement of Shikara and affect the overall aesthetic beauty of the lake. The cleaning of the lake is done by using machines as well as manpower. The government is working hard to restore the natural beauty of Dal Lake.

Dal Lake is the second largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir and it is named the Lake of Flowers, Jewel in the crown of Kashmir or Srinagar's Jewel. Dal Lake is also an important source for commercial operations in fishing and water plant harvesting.
