DA Case: Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi Not Cooperating With CBI

HYDERABAD: Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi who is currently in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is stated to not cooperating with the investigation and neither answering questions posed by the officials in connection with the disproportionate assets (DA) case on Saturday.

A special court for the CBI on Friday had granted four-day custody of the former Superintendent of GST from May 1st to May 4th , who was arrested by the CBI a few days ago.

It is reported that on Saturday Srinivasa Gandhi was brought to the CBI Office from Chanchalguda Jail where he is lodged. The CBI officials wore PPE suits and questioned Srinivasa Gandhi who was said to be non-cooperative with the officials.

CBI officials said that his wife Sireesha was also named as an accused in the case and she would be questioned in due course, though she is yet to be arrested in the case.

Officials are also questioning Srinivas Gandhi’s political links as he had managed to evade arrest till April 2021 even though the case was booked in 2019.

The CBI registered the case in July 2019 against Srinivasa Gandhi and his wife following allegations of amassing wealth to over Rs 3.74 crore.

Though the CBI issued notices under provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code, he did not cooperate with the investigation and also failed to provide necessary information and documents pertaining to the case.

Srinivasa Gandhi furnished false COVID-19 positive reports in the name of his family members to evade the arrest when the CBI came to arrest him at his residence.

Bollineni Srinivasa Gandhi was said to be a close aide of TDP chief N Chandrababu  Naidu and was one of the longest-serving official in the Enforcement Directorate from 2004 to 2017. He was appointed as the Superintendent of GST Anti Evasion Division wing at Basheerbagh GST Bhavan with the support of Chandrababu Naidu. He joined the Central Excise Department as an inspector in 1992 and promoted to superintendent in 2002. Later, he went to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on deputation in 2003 and served for a year.
