TDP Leader Kuna Ravi Kumar Booked For Threatening Tahasildar; Absconding

AMARAVATI: A case has been registered against TDP leader and former whip Kuna Ravi Kumar and his followers for allegedly abusing, threatening and using objectional language against Poduru Tahsildar Thamarapally Ramakrishna.

According to reports, TDP leader threatened the tahsildar of Ponduru in Srikakulam district for seizing vehicles that were illegally carrying mud from the Ramasagaram lake in Gorinta village of Ponduru mandal.

An audio clip of Ravi Kumar abusing and threatening the official went viral. Kuna Ravikumar is heard in the audio clip threatening the tahsildar saying, "Release the seized vehicles, otherwise, I would frame you in a case of bribery."

As the audio clip surfaced, Ravi Kumar's misbehaviour with the government official caused outrage among the government employees and the civil society.
Acting on a complaint lodged in this regard, the district police have launched a manhunt for Ravi Kumar. "Since Kuna Ravi Kumar is absconding, A case under sections 353, 506 of Indian penal code (IPC) was registered against him, his brother Kuna Venkata Satya Rao, Acchipolavalasa Ex-sarpanch Jagannatham and Contractor Chandra Reddy," JR Puram Inspector of Police Malleshwar Rao said.

Employees unions have condemned Ravi Kumar's atrocities, stating that this was not an isolated instance of Ravi Kumar displaying his overbearing attitude, threatening and abusing officials on duty. They demanded stringent action against him. Reacting to the incident, representatives of Andhra Pradesh Revenue Employees Association also demanded that a case under the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) be booked against the controversial TDP leader.
Incidentally, Kuna Ravi Kumar has been found guilty of threatening government officials and obstructing them from discharging their duties on several occasions in Srikakulam district.

In a similar incident a few months ago, Ravi Kumar was booked for storming the Mandal revenue office in Sarubujjili of the district and locking up officials there to pressurise them to sanction some works in his favour. After a case was registered against him, Ravi Kumar went into hiding for a few months before resurfacing again.

There is widespread condemnation of the TDP leader's continued atrocities against government employees. But the remorseless leader seems to have no qualms about it and appears in no mood to mend his ways, the locals lamented.
