AMARAVATI: A petition has been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday seeking orders to file a case against Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly violating lockdown norms during his visit to his residence in Undavalli.

The petitioner Vanga Venkat Ramireddy has filed it and alleged that Chandrababu Naidu, who travelled from Hyderabad to Vijayawada on Monday had not adhered to lockdown rules. It further stated that Chandrababu did not care despite the ban on mass gatherings during the lockdown and acted in a way to spread the highly infectious novel coronavirus.

The petition also sought that action be taken against Chandrababu Naidu by registering a case against him and his travel permits be cancelled.

It is known that the TDP chief had sought permission form Andhra Pradesh police and reached Undavalli along with his son Nara Lokesh at 1 pm on Monday by road. Meanwhile, the TDP chief stopped at a few points on National Highway No.9 and brazenly broke lockdown rules.

Police tried to control party cadre welcoming their chief without maintaining physical distance and wearing face masks, but their efforts were in vain. Even, Chandrababu Naidu did not try to dissuade the party cadre.
