AP CM YS Jagan Flags Off 175 Dr YSR Mobile Veterinary Ambulances For Livestock Welfare - Sakshi Post

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, launched "India's first government-run ambulance network" for the welfare of animals and livestock and to boost the veterinary sector in Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister flagged off 175 veterinary ambulances costing Rs 143 Crore in the first phase under the “Dr YSR Mobile Veterinary Ambulatory Clinical Services” from the CM Camp Office at Tadepalli. A total of 340 Veterinary Ambulances will be set up across the state at a cost of Rs 278 Crore. Another 165 Veterinary Ambulances costing Rs 135 crore will be added in the second phase.

The Veterinary Ambulances were set up as one of the main missions of the AP Government to help reach out to the distressed animals and provide them with proper animal healthcare. A total of 175 mobile ambulances (veterinary) clinics will be placed at Assembly Constituency Level on the lines of 108 Services for providing Veterinary services at the doorstep.


These mobile ambulances with state-of-the-art equipment will provide veterinary first aid services along with spot diagnosis and attending to emergency cases.

One of the major facilities these ambulances will provide is the 'Hydraulic Lift' facility to lift animals and shift them to the nearest veterinary dispensary.

The ambulance services provide emergency and quality veterinary services for dairy and domestic animals in rural as well as urban areas.

The maintenance of the ambulance will be borne by the government which has allocated Rs 1.90 lakh per month for each vehicle.

Under the Department of Animal Husbandry, there are around 1,576 veterinary dispensaries established across the state, with around 1,376 veterinary doctors recruited.

One veterinary doctor, One Para-veterinary worker, and a driver will be assigned to every ambulance.

These ambulances will also have a 24/7 toll-free call center. The Mobile Veterinary Services project will provide timely treatment on receipt of a call at 1962 at the doorstep of the livestock's owner.
