Andhra Jyothi Inciting Communal Dissent: Dr Subramanian Swamy

 - Sakshi Post

AMARAVATI: Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy told the Andhra Pradesh High Court that the Telugu vernacular paper Andhra Jyothi  had published false articles with the intention of tarnishing the image of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) temple and was inciting communal dissent in the society.  He stated that these articles were published with malicious intent by Andhra Jyothi to create religious discord. The State DGP filed a counter stating that they would conduct an investigation into the article published by Andhra Jyothi on TTD within a month and a final report would be submitted in the concerned court. The DGP also asked the High Court to monitor the case until the investigation was over.

It may be recollected that in the month of March this year Dr Subramanian Swamy had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the High Court seeking an order for an in-depth inquiry into a complaint lodged by a TTD vigilance officer alleging that Andhra Jyothi had published a false article about religious propaganda in the TTD. The case had come for hearing in the bench chaired by the Chief Justice on Wednesday.

After taking into consideration these details and the BJP MPs statements, the AP High Court adjourned the next hearing to September 29.

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy filed an Rs.100 crore defamation case against Andhra Jyothi for publishing ‘false stories’ against TTD. He condemned the false propaganda on Tirumala temple and said that Andhra Jyothi was assuming that the leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu would save it. At that time Dr Swamy stated that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was being targeted by the media deliberately while decrying the attitude of Andhra Jyothi and Chandrababu Naidu.
