Prime Minister Narendra Modi lived up to his promise after honouring the fitness challenge thrown at him by Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli. He posted a proof of his workout in a fitness video today.
Last month, Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore initiated the challenge by putting up a video and urging people to keep fit and post their videos online. Rathore nominated Virat Kohli, who immediately responded with his fitness video and in turn challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others. The Prime Minister graciously accepted the challenge and promised to post a video of his fitness routine soon.
In his Mann ki Baat address in March, the PM pitched for a fit and healthy India. "I believe that healthy India and clean India are related to each other. The country has moved ahead in the health sector with conventional approach. Earlier, the health related work was the responsibility of onky the Union Health Ministry. But in the current scenario, every department, state government and other departments are working together towards achieving a healthy India," he said.
The PM in his latest tweet posted a video that showcased a glimpse of his morning exercises. In the video, he is seen walking on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash.
“Here are moments from my morning exercises. Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises. #HumFitTohIndiaFit,” the Prime Minister's tweet read.
He also nominated the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Manika Batra and IPS officers above the age of 40, for the fitness challenge.
"I am delighted to nominate the following for the #FitnessChallenge:
Karnataka’s CM Shri @hd_kumaraswamy. India’s pride and among the highest medal winners for India in the 2018 CWG, @manikabatra_TT.
The entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40," he tweeted.
Reacting to PM's challenge, the Karnataka CM said yoga and treadmill are part of his daily routine. The JDS leader remarked that he was more concerned about the fitness of Karnataka and sought the Prime Minister's support for the same.
The Karnataka CM's reply to the PM's challenge read: "Dear @narendramodi ji, I am honoured& thankU very much for d concern about my health I believe physical fitness is imptnt for all&support d cause. Yoga-treadmill r part of my daily workout regime. Yet, I am more concerned about devlpment fitness of my state&seek ur support for it."
