Vijayawada: Jana Chaitanya Vedika president V. Lakshman Reddy alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was encouraging liquor sales. He said the government was not trying to improve on other sources of revenue generation. The state is known for its productivity in agriculture as "Annapurna," but Chandrababu was turning it into a state of alcoholics, he lamented.
The liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh surged by 35 per cent in the past four years, this was a clear indication of Chandrababu's encouragement, Lakshman Reddy remarked.
In protest against the government's approach in this matter, Jana Chaitanya Vedika, in partnership with Vavilala Organization plans to hold a protest meeting on June 13 to propagate the menace of alcohol.
