Nalgonda: Former central minister and BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded of the Telangana government to compensate the farmers who have been badly affected by the unseasoned rains. After visiting the IKP paddy procurement centre at Kethupalli in the district here today, he called upon the government to immediately buy the wet grain and also demanded the minimum support price be hiked from Rs 1500 to Rs 2000.
The BJP MP commented that half the amount that was disbursed under the Rythu Bandhu schemes would go to ministers and MLAs. There was no one to extend a helping hand to the farmers in the state, he said and alleged that there was no one to distribute the patta pass books at IKP centres. He called upon the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to make arrangements to transport the wet grain to the mills.
