Boys Set Afire Girl After Raping Her

Ranchi: An 18-year-old woman was allegedly set on fire by four men on Friday, a day after she was raped by them. The incident occurred in Rajakendua village of Chatra district in Jharkhand. The victim who suffered 98% burns is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to police, the girl was kidnapped by the four men when her parents were out of home to attend a marriage. She was taken to an isolated place and sexually assaulted by the accused. On learning about the issue, the girl's parents lodged a complaint with the village panchayat who levied a fine of Rs 30,000 and asked the goons to do 100 sit-ups.

The accused refused the order of the Panchayat officers and sneaked into the house of the victim. They thrashed the girl's parents and set her on fire. Locals and police were alerted, who shifted the girl to a hospital.

The police also registered a case and are trying to nab the culprits who went absconding after the incident. The police also suspect the girl is likely to have had a romantic relationship with the prime accused.
