One of most highly anticipated film of the year is Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat. The film has been in the news ever since it went on floors. The film makers have faced several problems from Karni Sena. Now, with the SC clearance for its release, the film is all set to hit the big screens. Rajasthan is still protesting over the issue with Rajput women threatening a mass Jauhar (self immolation) over the film's release.
The supreme court has granted permission to release the film. Even the Censor board has awarded a U/A Certificate with a change of I in the title.Now with the decks cleared for its release, all eyes are on the possible revenue the film could garner at the box office.
At the moment, Baahubali 2 holds the distinction of being the highest grossing Indian film. The movie raked in Rs 1200 Cr at the worldwide box office.
Even Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai which is going strong at the box office has failed to beat the record set by Rajamouli's Baahubali. Now, the question is will Deepika's film break its record? Box office is ruled by content. But at times even controversies can change the fate of a movie. On the other hand, the same reason could even lure curious people to theatres.
