Hyderabad: Vanitha, wife of Telugu comedian Vijay Sai who committed suicide on Monday, released a selfie video on Tuesday claiming to be innocent as far as her husband's suicide is concerned.

"Hi Vijju.. I am shocked by your death but even more disturbed by the accusation that came on me. Everyone is saying it was me who forced you to take the extreme step. How can I do that Vijju? How can I afford to lose you?" she spoke in the video hugging her daughter Kundan.

"Thappu chesav vijju..(you committed a big mistake)" she concludes bursting into tears. “I never thought you were so weak and such a coward. But now, I am bearing the brunt of your act,” Vanitha laments in the video.

Meanwhile, police booked Vanitha and two others for abetting suicide. The 35-year-old actor was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his Yousufguda flat. Police recovered a mobile video shot by him moments before his death, in which he allegedly blamed his wife and two others for driving him to suicide.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Venkateshwar Rao said the selfie video was sent for forensic examination. Vijay Sai and his wife Vanitha were living separately for two years and had also filed for a divorce. They have a daughter Kundan.

On a complaint by Vijay's father Subba Rao, police registered a case against Vanita, lawyer Srinivas and Sashidhar. The police is investigating into the allegations made by Vijay of a relationship between Vanitha and Shashidhar. The police were also trying to trace people who met or spoke to the actor in the days leading to his death.

Vijay's parents alleged that he was under psychological stress due to the behavior of his wife. Vijay also made serious allegations against his wife stating she and her mother were involved in prostitution and that they took away his car after hiring goons to attack him.

Vanitha, however, dismissed the allegations against her. She alleged that Vijay had several extra-marital affairs and was also infected by HIV AIDS. She said he even beat her up on several occasions for questioning him over the same, but she never revealed this.

Vijay made his debut with the movie Ammayilu Abbayilu in 2003. Later he played a comedian in movies like Current, Vara Prasad Potti Prasad, Bommarillu, Okariki Okaru, Brindavanam and Mr Manmadha. His last film was Dhanalaxmi Talupu Tadite, which was released in 2015. The actor had not got any film offers in the recent past, which could be one of the reasons for his depression.
