Ranchi: A BJP leader's son and a nephew of a state Cabinet Minister kidnapped a 20-year-old girl for a ransom. The victim is a student of Mahendra Prasad Women's College. Although the incident occurred in the month of October, it came to light only on Monday.

The accused identified as Rahul Singh — is the son of local BJP leader Neelam Singh while Ajit Singh is the nephew of Urban Development Minister C.P Singh. According to the police, Rahul and Ajit met the victim in August posing as bank recruitment officials. The duo interviewed the victim outside the college a few days later in the same month. Ajith offered her a cake saying that it was Rahul's birthday. Later, the girl found herself in a room at an undisclosed location. The victim further claimed that Rahul shot an objectionable video when she was unconscious. The police rescued her from Bihar.

The victim is the daughter of a senior RSS functionary in Hazaribagh. She accused Rahul of forcibly marrying her and kidnapping her for a ransom of Rs 14 lakh. Rahul apparently blackmailed the girl with the obscene video that he claimed to have taken. The other accused, Ajit is also a Grade-IV employee of Jharkhand Academic Council. Claiming that he was the son of Minister CP Singh, Ajit signed at the Registrar's Office when Rahul forcibly married the girl.
