New Delhi: Former finance minister Arun Jaitley's health condition continues to remain in a critical condition and as per official reports he is currently on life support at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. His heart and lungs are not functioning normally and he has been in the hospital since August 9 after he complained of palpitation and other illnesses.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, several other Union ministers, senior political leaders and well wishers have been seen visiting the senior leader since Friday.

According to an earlier medical bulletin by AIIMS, the former minister is under the supervision of a team comprising multidisciplinary doctors, adding that “he is haemodynamically stable”. The hospital has not issued any medical bulletin on Jaitley's health after August 9.

Jaitley, who held several important portfolios in Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi governments, has not been keeping well for some time. Citing health reasons he had not even contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election.It may be recollected that in February, Piyush Goyal had to present the interim budget as Jaitley was undergoing treatment in the US. After the NDA won the elections , he had also written to Prime Minister Modi of his inability to take any up any further responsibility/portfolio in the government due to his deteriorating health condition.
