Prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has announced that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be handed over to Indian authorities on Friday.

He was addressing the Pakistan parliament when he made this announcement. He considered this to be the first step towards peace in the subcontinent through further negotiations.

The Army, Air Force and Navy, meanwhile, will soon address a joint press conference. The Ministry of External Affairs is also expected to join them.

The Pak PM's announcement comes hours after the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump made a statement in Vietnam saying that there would be “reasonably good news” coming from India and Pakistan."

They have been going at it and we have been involved in trying to have them stop," Trump had said. "We have been in the middle trying to help them both out," he added.
