A senior Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali has called upon members of the Muslim community to donate at least 10% of their budget for Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid to Kerala Relief fund.

In a Facebook post, the Maulana underscored the true spirit of sacrifice which is at the core Bakrid celebrations and is the message of Qurbani or sacrifice. He also urged upon Muslims to refrain from lavish celebrations on the occasion.

Striking a similar note, another prominent Shia cleric, Maulana Yaqoob Abbas appeald to Muslim brethren to contribute towards the Kerala relief fund. he said: “I would like to appeal to all the people who can afford to contribute, to please contribute towards the Kerala Relief Fund and give a helping hand.
