CHENNAI: Actor-politician Rajinikanth has alleged that BJP is attempting to saffronise him and condemned that he is lenient towards the party. He addressed media after unveiling statue of popular director K. Balachandar along with his contemporary Kamal Haasan, who is also a politician. Rajinikanth made it clear that "The BJP has not made any offer to me join them. But the BJP is attempting to saffronise me just like they are saffronising Tiruvalluvar. I will not get trapped, nor will Tiruvalluvar," he said.
After speculations rife on the actor-politician Rajinikanth entry into politics and showing leniency towards BJP, he now clarified that he is not going to associate with the BJP and asked the BJP to focus more on public issues than getting into controversies like releasing photos of ancient Tiruvalluvar wearing a saffron clothes.
The 68-year old veteran actor appealed to the public to maintain calm in view of a verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue which is expected in a few days. "I appeal to everyone to keep calm however Ayodhya verdict goes," he said.
