It was a prank that went horribly wrong. A model at Mumbai International Airport casually joked that her friend's hand bag had a bomb and asked the authorities to thoroughly check it.

Her statement created panic among the authorities and the passengers of the Delhi-bound Air India flight 101. She also got into a tiff with the security personnel. The CISF got alarmed and off loaded their baggage. They were asked to proceed without baggage. During investigation, Kanchan Thakur, the 27-year-old model, admitted that her comment was meant to be a joke. But, the police registered an FIR at Sahar police station and asked the model and her four friends not to leave the city. She also had to secure a bail.

If proved guilty, she could be jailed for up to three years for endangering the life of others and causing fear or alarm among the public. She has been charged under Section 505(1)(b) of the IPC.
