Protesting against her joining TRS, TRS activist Prem tried to self immolate

Former minister Konda Surekha and her husband Murali, joined TRS on Tuesday.  The couple joined the party in the presence of TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhara Rao at the Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Speaking to reporters about her decision, she said that she chose TRS as only the latter could rebuild Telangana. She added that she had earlier misunderstood KCR, but now she realises that only he can bring about development in this region.

When asked how many parties she will change, Surekha quipped, "You people also change jobs. It is similar to that."

Speaking about Surekha's entry, TRS chief KCR's son KTR said "Past is past. Let us forget everything that happened and concentrate on our future. With Konda Surekha's entry, party will be strengthen in Warangal."

When questioned as to why she quit Congress, Surekha said that there were no reasons behind her move.

Earlier in the day, the Konda couple met TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao and had discussed their future course of action with him.

Sources say that KCR has offered the Warangal East Assembly seat to Surekha and an MLC seat to Murali.

It is learnt that she first demanded the Parkal seat and Bhooopalpalle Assembly seat for her husband. But KCR reportedly denied their request and offered Warangal East Assembly seat to Surekha, instead.

Konda couple's entry, though welcomed by TRS chief KCR, is meeting with stiff opposition by some of the members.

Protesting against her joining TRS, TRS activist Prem tried to self immolate.
