Hyderabad: Hyderabad city residents are facing traffic woes in several places on Monday (October 21) as Congress party leaders are trying to lay siege at Pragathi Bhawan in the wake of the strike called by TSRTC workers.
Senior Congress leaders including MP Revanth Reddy, TPCC working president Vikramarka, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy made attempts to lay siege at Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of the CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Heavy police have been deployed in various routes to prevent the leaders from coming to Pragathi Bhavan and the leaders have been taken into custody. Police have also been deployed at various metro stations to prevent the leaders from commuting via metro.
Traffic jam is witnessed in several locations which are heading towards the Pragathi Bhawan. Roads from Secunderabad to Punjagutta and the vehicles moving from Paradise to Begumpet were in a standstill from 12 pm onwards.
Added to this, the schools re-opening from Monday after Dasara vacation has added to the congestion in the roads.
In the wake of the TSRTC strike, the Telangana government has taken alternative measures to avoid the difficulties of commuters and school children. Even though CM has taken the decision to run RTC buses with private employees but these appear to be inadequate for a large number of passengers and they rely on Setwin buses due to inadequate availability of RTC buses.
