What is the movie all about?

Nerkonda Paarvai Movie Review

A retired lawyer comes to the rescue of three young women who are implicated in a crime. So does the movie live up the expectations of the people? Does the remake do justice to the the Hindi original? Let's find out.

The film revolves around treatment of women in the present day society. Imagine a retired lawyer battling his own health issues played by none other Ajith coming forward to help these distressed women.

What follows is a powerful courtroom drama. Even though Pink itself was powerful, Vinoth does a great job of adapting it into Tamil by staying true to the script except for a few changes here and there to please the actor's fans. While the three women have pulled off their roles, Shraddha stands out as the courageous Meera Krishnan. Vidya Balan's cameo is impressive too. No words need be told about Ajith as we can't even doubt his acting prowess. We have seen him from Vaali to Viswasam, he can just be as versatile as he can and each time he's a revelation.

What works for the movie other than Ajith is its relevance in today's society—be it the importance of seeking consent, abuse by the elite class, women's safety, opression of the weaker sex and patriarchy which still prevails in today's society.

Verdict; Nerkonda Paarvai is a must watch even if you have watched the original as Ajith delivers his career best in the movie.
