Maharshi Overseas Rights: Wary Distributors Not Willing To Shell Out More

Superstar Mahesh Babu has carved a niche for himself in Industry with back to back hits. As you know, Mahesh Babu is not only a popular star but also enjoys a solid fan following in different parts of the world. His last big screen appearance was in 'Bharat Ane Nenu' which was a profitable venture at the box office. Now, everyone’s eyes are on his forthcoming flick 'Maharshi' which is gearing up for release this summer.

Mahesh Babu movies have much demand overseas and even in other parts of the world. If his movies click at the box office, it will bring in huge returns for the movie distributors. At the same time, in case, the film fails at the ticket window, to would incur huge losses for them. It would take ample time to recover from the losses. 'Maharshi' is getting ready to hit theatres and the makers are looking forward to selling the movie rights. It is learned, that USA distributors are not coming forward to bag the rights of 'Maharshi'. This is surprising as we know that Mahesh Babu is a brand and enjoys a great reputation in the US market. The director of the movie Vamshi Paidipally doesn't have any market. Distributors are having second thoughts on investing such lumpsum amount for the rights. A few distributors are even negotiating the price of rights, it is learned.  Now, it remains to be seen who will purchase the rights of the movie.

Along with Mahesh, ‘Maharshi’ also features Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh, who will appear in prominent roles. The film which marks Mahesh’s 25th film, is set for a grand release on May 9 in theatres worldwide.
